Inquest jury sent home due to illness

The jury at the inquest into the death of prisoner Michael Davidson has been sent home for the day.

Two of the jurors are ill and the court is hoping they will return fit and well tomorrow.

Mr Davidson died of drug toxicity whilst an inmate in Jurby prison on March 13, 2012.

Psychiatrist Kirsten Wafer will continue her evidence on Monday, with Prison Governor Alison Gomme beginning after her. Dr David Hedley, the Island's lead Forensic Medical Examiner, will now receive questions for him to reply with written answers.

It is possible for the inquest to continue with a jury of six, rather than the original seven, but there are concerns that more illness could lead to the case beginning again, in its entirety, later this year.
