The inquest into the death of a police officer has opened at Douglas Courthouse.
Sergeant Stephen Kenneth Hall was found on the railway line in Ballaugh, near the Ravensdale River, just before 6pm on 13 November.
A post-mortem showed the 48-year-old Manxman had suffered a fracture to one of the vertebrae in his neck.
Today (28 November) the court was told investigations into his death are continuing and the inquest would be reconvened at a later date.
Expressing his condolences, to Mr Hall’s family, Coroner of Inquests James Brooks released his body so that funeral arrangements can now take place.
Announcing Mr Hall’s death, on 14 November, the Isle of Man Constabulary said it was not being treated as suspicious.
In a statement it added: “The constabulary as a whole and those who knew Stephen, or worked with him, are deeply saddened by the news.
“Thoughts and deepest sympathy go to Stephen’s family and those close to him at this difficult time.
“The police would like to request the public not to speculate about Sergeant Hall’s passing and to have respect for the family, friends and colleagues of him at this time.”
The Isle of Man Football Association also paid tribute to Mr Hall saying he was a ‘valued member’ of the Isle of Man referees' community and would be ‘sorely missed’ by everyone.
