'Some of these prisoners have never had rewards' says deputy governor
Inmates from the Isle of Man Prison have scooped 29 awards after showcasing their Jurby-grown vegetables.
They entered 40 categories at the Royal Agricultural Show and Sulby Horticultural Show – collecting 10 first place prizes, 10 second and nine third.
All of the produce was grown by the prisoners – most of whom have no previous experience of gardening.
The vegetables - which include carrots, cabbages, lettuce and squash – are used within the onsite kitchen; extra meals are also cooked and donated to the Isle of Man Foodbank.
