CPI stays in negative territory
The Island’s rate of inflation fell again last month – anchoring itself firmly in negative territory.
In June the consumer prices index stood at -1.2 per cent, but July’s figures show the figure fell further to -1.5 per cent.
The retail prices index, meanwhile, also fell from 2.1 per cent to 1.8 per cent.
Government figures show it’s been bad news if you eat pork, which has shot up in price by 12 per cent in the last year, but better if you drink tea: that’s fallen by 11 per cent.
