Julie Edge says plans for a Manx Marine Spatial Plan are 'better than nothing'

An MHK says it's 'incredible' that a strategy for Manx territorial waters hasn't been drawn up to date.

Onchan member Julie Edge wanted Tynwald to recognise it as a national natural resource of strategic importance and for the Council of Ministers to bring forward plans for a strategic framework for its management and licensing.

While her political colleagues did agree with her about the first point, they supported an amendment which committed government to bring forward a Manx Marine Spatial Plan instead.

Ms Edge says she still hopes to able to push for her original motion:

Ms Edge has declared her intention to stand for re-election in Onchan, where Rob Callister, Gabriella Corkish, Rachel Glover and Oliver Lockwood are also standing.
