A passenger watchdog has again expressed concern over travel links at a proposed new Manx ferry terminal in Liverpool.

TravelWatch claims the Department of Infrastructure will soon be submitting its planning application for the new £30m+ Princes Half Tide Dock terminal to local authorities.

But the group believes the site, located half a mile away from the Pier Head, could cause 'severe inconvenience' for foot passengers, as the plans contain no provision for a bus service linking the port to the city centre.

In a statement, it's suggested the planning authority would be expected to scrutinise such aspects, but doubts are raised over how closely this may be examined, as the City of Liverpool has been a 'prime mover' in having the ferry service moved away from the Pier Head.

Members are calling for a synchronised, frequent and reliable bus service to be accounted for, as well as an explicit assurance from any potential provider.
