Government investigating potential problems
Chief Minister Allan Bell says new immigration rules governing people from outside the EU shouldn’t have a massive impact here.
He faced questions in Keys this morning from East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw.
Under current rules, people can apply for a three-year visa and can be given leave to remain for three more year afterwards – but under the new rules they’ll only have five years and need to earn more than £35,000.
Mr Bell said government is looking into any potential problems the change might make for workers such as nurses.
