Prestigious award recognises outstanding biking skill
TT star Ian Hutchinson has been nominated for the prestigious Royal Automobile Club Torrens Trophy award.
The trophy recognises outstanding contributions to the cause of safe and skilful motorcycling, or to have shown outstanding skill in international motorcycling events.
The Bingley Bullet has fought back to racing fitness after an accident at Silverstone in 2010 almost led to him having his left leg amputated. He's had over thirty operations in the years since and at this year's TT won three races, the first time he's stood on the podium on the Isle of Man since his record breaking five victories in a week in 2010.
Speaking at the Motorcycle live show in Birmingham where the nomination list was revealed, Hutchy was typically modest about the nomination . .
The other nominees on the shortlist are 2015 Moto3 Championship winner Danny Kent . . . World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea and Double Speedway World Champion . . Tai Woffinden
