'Huge decision' awaits Island politicians

Abortion reforms go to Keys in January

An abortion campaigner says the decision awaiting local politicians in the new year is a momentous one for the history of the Isle of Man.

Members of the House of Keys will next month be asked to consider measures to reform abortion laws.

They include allowing women a termination up to 14 weeks into their pregnancy and up to 24 weeks if there are serious health concerns or social grounds why a baby shouldn’t be born.

Aisling Hubert from anti-abortion group Abort 67, which was in the Island this week, says it’s vital MHKs have all the facts before they vote.
