Hospice colour event dulled by bill

Charity facing council clean-up charge

Bosses at the Island's hospice are disputing a bill from Douglas council, for cleaning up after a public event in the capital.

Colour Me Rainbow proved a big hit with supporters in July, and raised around £10,000 for the charity at Douglas carnival.

But the council was left to mop up the mess left by coloured powder paint strewn on the road - and now the hospice has been sent a £830 bill. 

The charity says cleaning costs were never mentioned by the council before the event - and haven't been charged in the past.

Douglas Borough Council has not commented on the matter.
