Five times more children enrolled this year compared to 2018
There's been a drastic rise in the number of children being home educated on the Isle of Man in recent years.
The Department of Education, Sport and Culture has revealed the figures in a Freedom of Information request by Manx Radio.
Five times more children are now in home education compared to September 2018.
In the 2018-19 school year, 47 children were registered for home schooling.
That number has steadily increased year on year and now stands at 244.
DESC says the figures will constantly change as parents can register and deregister their children from home education at any point throughout the year.
It doesn't store information about why a parent opts for their child to be educated at home.
All the figures for the past eight school years are below:
2018-2019 = 47
2019-2020 = 57
2020-2021 = 82
2021-2022 = 100
2022-2023 = 130
2023-2024 = 173
2024-2025 = 236
2025-2026 = 244
