Council leader praises support from local customers
The leader of Douglas Council has praised shoppers for supporting the high street rather than shopping online.
David Christian says people have responded to a plea from the authority to help out retailers who have been heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Traders in the capital are said to be 'pleasantly surprised' by the number of customers they've had through the doors in the build-up to Christmas.
Mr Christian is confident next year will be a positive one:
RPU will be 'out in force' to stop drink and drug drivers
Ramsey Commissioners to spend more than £8k on deckchairs and storage unit

Police appeal to parents after party of up to 50 young people 'becomes an issue'
