The fourth and final instalment of 'Heartstopper' is officially in production.

Netflix confirmed the development today (9 June) in a post alongside a photograph featuring stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke with creator and writer Alice Oseman.

Back in April, the streaming giant confirmed the show will conclude with a feature film rather than another series.

It will pick up following the season three finale, with 'with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school'.

Manx actor Joe Locke was picked via an open casting call to play Charlie Spring after going up against 10,000 other hopeful teenagers.

The LGBTQ+ teen drama made a star of the ex-Ballakermeen student, who has gone on to star in on Broadway and in Marvel TV show 'Agatha All Along'.

Disney+ has submitted the Marvel series for Emmy consideration in 24 categories - with Joe submitted for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Nominations are set to be announced on 15 July.
