Benefit of new link up with GNAA
People who have a heart attack on the Isle of Man could be transferred directly to hospitals in the North West.
Manx Care has started a new trial with the Great North Air Ambulance service to utilise a medical helicopter which can get a patient to Aintree in 29 minutes.
It will predominantly be used for responding to trauma incidents but will also be trialled for those who suffer a cardiac arrest.
Onboard medical crew will be able to perform specialist procedures at the scene including anaesthesia, emergency surgery and blood transfusions.
