Claire Christian says there are areas that can be improved in the health service

The health minister says she believes Manx Care 2.0 is around the corner following a governance review.

Claire Christian has told Manx Radio there are areas in the health service that need improvement.

She highlighted finance as one area that presents difficulties, with responsibility for healthcare spending split across the Department of Health and Social Care, Manx Care and Treasury.

She's also called for more transparency in relation to services provided by Manx Care, particularly for patients attending the hospital.

The minister has been speaking to Phil Gawne:

In response, Manx Care says: "It has already welcomed the review of governance arrangements and the report’s acknowledgement that Manx Care is the right delivery model and recognition that notable improvements to health and social care services have been made since it was established in 2021.

"It also supports greater partnership working with DHSC and wider government which will allow our health and care system to operate with quality and efficiency, achieving improved outcomes for the population we serve."
