Personal reasons cited after less than a year in the job

The Department of Health and Social Care’s chief executive has left – after just 11 months in the job.

The Civil Service Commission says Mark Charters has left for personal reasons, and says he leaves the post after completing his primary objectives.

Mr Charters joined the department last July, during a huge shakeup of senior management which saw new directors of health, social care, and primary care, along with a new medical director and chief nurse.

In a statement, the Civil Service Commission says interim arrangements to run the department are being set up while a new chief executive is sought.
