Work to make site more accessible for lorries
Commercial dumping of soil and garden rubble at the Southern Recycling Centre in Port St Mary has been suspended whilst the site is restructured to make it safer for users.
The layout had proved a headache for large vehicles attempting to turn and offload materials, causing a number of incidents according to local officials.
Health and safety experts are now working to improve the facility on Castletown Road, and make it more accessible for trucks and lorries.
Last week, it was announced by the managing board of the site that all commercial operations will be temporarily suspended for three months from this Friday.
Commercial green waste will continue to be accepted, and domestic users won't be affected by the suspension.
