Consultation open until 22 December

A consultation has opened on proposed changes to the Legal Aid Act, aimed at putting recommendations from the 2021 Legal Aid Review into action.

The Treasury and the Legal Aid Committee say the updates would help improve how Legal Aid is delivered - with some changes made directly and others enabling future regulations.

The Legal Aid Review made 32 recommendations to help improve Legal Aid services and a steering group was set up to examine the proposals and work with relevant stakeholders.

Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson is urging the public to share their views during the consultation period.

The document is available on the Government’s consultation hub, and feedback can be submitted online, by email, or by post until 22 December.
