The Legend of Laa'l Breeshey says you should
According to a local Manx legend known as Laa'l Breeshey, you should hope for bad weather on the first day of February.
James Franklin, an educational officer at Culture Vannin says the tale is about how once upon a time, a witch would walk the length of the Island in search of firewood.
If the weather was bad and she went empty handed, it was said to ensure perfect weather in the spring season ahead.
