Access to local firms' email accounts obtained
Police are warning hackers are targeting Manx residents after gaining access to the email accounts of a number of local businesses.
The fraudsters are sending emails to customers asking for deposits to be paid directly to a supplier, rather than the company the customer had been dealing with.
Officers say these messages will look like they've come directly from the company, but in reality have not.
Anyone receiving such a message is urged to contact the company directly before making any transfers.
