Danny and Christie Hands have acquired a majority shareholding
A Douglas gym has a new owner as husband and wife Danny and Christie Hands have acquired a majority shareholding of Prime Performance.
The gym, based in Victory House on Prospect Hill, first opened its doors in 2023.
Danny and Christie Hands will work alongside Jack Grace as the gym moves into its next phase of growth, with plans including the addition of a third floor and approximately 1,000 square feet of additional gym floor space.
Alongside their investment, the gym is planning a major focus on new equipment of what the team 'believes are the very best individual pieces from leading brands around the world'.
The investment is already taking shape, with top-of-the-range upper-body equipment arriving at Prime this week and further machines already in production or in transit.
Danny said: “We are prepared to invest heavily to bring the best equipment possible to the Isle of Man. There will be no cutting corners, we want the best equipment and the best possible training environment for our members and we will continue to invest year after year.”
An expansion to open up the new floor will also include a dedicated posing room, additional service and consultation rooms, upgraded training areas and a larger dedicated class space. Prime’s existing class programme will continue, with classes included as part of membership.
With the new owners also plan to make Prime Performance a 24-hour facility, giving members greater flexibility to train around work, family and other commitments.
Christie added: “Prime already has a fantastic community and we want to build on that rather than change what makes it special.
“I’m particularly excited about what we can create for female training. We want women on the Island to have access to an incredible range of equipment, particularly for glute and lower-body training, while continuing to make Prime a gym for everyone.”
The investment represents the latest development for Danny and Christie, who have built a large social media presence within the Isle of Man health and fitness sector through Dedicated Coaching and Swift Supps.
Prime will remain fully operational throughout the expansion, with further announcements on new equipment, facilities and 24-hour access to follow as the transformation progresses.
