Guilty plea from pensioner who seriously injured motorist

Man suffered 'significant brain damage' as a result of August crash

A pensioner from Glen Vine will be sentenced later this year after seriously injuring another motorist.

Peter Nicholas Poole-Wilson, of Ballamurphie Park, entered a guilty plea to causing serious bodily harm by driving without due care or consideration at Douglas Courthouse.

The 82-year-old’s Mitsubishi was involved in a crash on 27 August last year, in Marown, on the A1 Peel Road.

The man he hit suffered significant brain damage as a result of the injuries he sustained in the collision which included multiple bleeds on the brain and fractures to his ribs and collarbone.

Poole-Wilson will next appear in court on 16 April when a decision will be made about which court he will be sentenced in; he’s been bailed until then with a condition not to drive.

Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 16 April the case was further adjourned so that medical evidence can be sought. Mr Poole-Wilson will next appear in court on 21 May.
