Great North Air Ambulance responds to Mountain Road collision

Patient airlifted to UK hospital

The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the Mountain Road on Friday (16 May) following a road traffic collision that saw the route closed for several hours.

A critical care team, consisting of two paramedics and a doctor, received the call at 1.21pm, arriving on the scene in little over half an hour at 1.53pm.

The charity says its team worked alongside the Isle of Man Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient and provide advanced care on scene.

The patient was then airlifted to a specialist hospital in the UK for further treatment.

After handing over the patient at the hospital, the team returned back to base in Langwathby, Penrith in Cumbria, landing at 5.25pm.

The Isle of Man Constabulary reopened the Mountain Road shortly before 7pm.
