Committee vote against half-a-million-pound scheme
Government plans to build a 4ft high sea wall along Douglas promenade have been rejected by planners.
The Department of Infrastructure had proposed new defences for a section of the current walkway along Loch promenade.
The half-a-million-pound scheme was put forward to protect the seafront against coastal over-topping, as part of the climate change mitigation strategy.
However, yesterday (7 Oct) the planning committee voted down the plans.
Chairman Tim Baker, who's a member of the Department of Infrastructure, left the room whilst the decision was made.
