DEFA won't answer questions about Pulrose businesses
Government has refused to answer questions about whether Environmental Health has ‘shut down’ businesses in Pulrose saying it’s ‘unable’ to.
Manx Radio asked for clarification after reports on social media that two eateries had been closed after ‘spot checks’ following a complaint.
Environmental Health sits within the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
It maintains a register of food businesses and carries out ‘proactive and reactive’ food hygiene and safety inspections.
It also investigates a range of complaints about food including contamination, mislabelling and allergens.
In response to Manx Radio’s request the Government Communication Service said: “The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is unable to comment or provide any information on this specific enquiry. “
Manx Radio sought clarity on the reason why the department was ‘unable’ to answer the query but has not received a response.
We have also contacted the Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Dr Rachel Glover.
