Ard-Shirveishagh responds to MHK's comments on allocation of public funds
The chief minister says government's resources are not unlimited, and it must make difficult decisions about its priorities.
Chris Thomas's comments are in response to remarks from Glenfaba and Peel MHK Daniel Davison that government funding isn't being allocated properly.
In a statement issued to Manx Radio, Ard-Shirveishagh Chris Thomas says Mr Davison makes a fair and important point, agreeing that government has a duty to ensure public money is allocated properly.
However, Mr Thomas says resources are not unlimited, and therefore there needs to be a focus on value for money, and investing where the need is greatest.
He added: "We have to also be fair to all parts of the Island. Government must consider the needs of every community, while balancing competing demands across things like healthcare, infrastructure, public services and economic development."
Mr Thomas went on to confirm he welcomes constructive debate on how resources are used and is committed to ensuring taxpayers receive the best possible value from public expenditure.
