Hopes report will be 'a kick in the backside' for gov't
The chair of a Tynwald committee says government hasn't been meeting its commitments to tackle the housing crisis on the Island.
Juan Watterson says, despite housing being a big issue on the doorsteps during the 2021 election, action to resolve the problem hasn't been forthcoming.
The Select Committee of Tynwald on Poverty's report has landed on the Tynwald Register of Business with 32 recommendations - including expanding energy efficiency schemes and compiling a homelessness register.
'Safe, decent, affordable housing is a part of life that many of us take for granted. However, for some in our community, finding and affording this is a daily struggle.' - Select Committee Of Tynwald On Poverty (2021) First Report For The Session 2023-2024 Housing And Homelessness.
Mr Watterson told Manx Radio what the committee learnt whilst putting the report together:
RPU will be 'out in force' to stop drink and drug drivers
