Government fleet uses £21m of fuel in 8 years

Vehicles use over 2.5m litres of petrol and diesel each year

Fuel for Government-operated vehicles has cost almost £21million since 2011.

Over the last eight years, over 20.6million litres of petrol and diesel have been used by the Government's fleet, including police vehicles.

£20,941,068.30 - that's the total Government expenditure on fuel since the start of 2011 to September this year.

2012 is the only year the cost of fuel has exceeded £3m, while 2016 proved the least expensive with £2.4m going on petrol and diesel.

2018's figures aren't complete yet, but over £2m has already been spent this year.

An average of 2.577m litres of fuel have been used each year, at a cost of just over £1.01 per litre.

Responding to a Freedom of Information request from Manx Radio, the Department of Infrastructure also confirmed it has 10 fuel pumps across seven sites for use in the Government fleet.
