Governor trots in on horse tram
A double-decker horse tram will be out on Douglas promenade on Thursday afternoon, for the first time this year (6 April).
It's being rolled out of the sheds early to transport Lietenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney from Derby Castle to the Villa Marina for the opening of the sixth Isle of Man Beer and Cider Festival.
Organisers say the tram's making a special one-off trip between 6pm and 6.30pm - and it's not a passenger service.
The tramway begins its 2017 season proper on Saturday (8 April), with the first of the iconic cars leaving Derby Castle at 9am.
Spokesman for the festival Roger Cave says the governor will perform the opening honours:
Abuse towards bus drivers 'will not be tolerated'
Mountain Road closed due to snow and ice
Majority of rates going up for residents across the Island
