General Election candidate charged with harassment

A General Election candidate has appeared in court today (22 September) charged with harassment.

Oliver John Lockwood, of Main Road in Onchan, was brought before the deputy high bailiff from custody.

The 45-year-old has also been charged with committing a public order offence on 15 September.

Mr Lockwood, who is seeking election in the constituency of Onchan, was represented in court by advocate James Peterson.

He asked for a two-week adjournment to be granted so Mr Lockwood could take further legal advice.

Bail was granted with conditions including not to attend an address on Mount View Road and not to enter Tesco in Village Walk; he has also been prohibited from contacting two individuals.

Mr Lockwood will next appear in court on 6 October.

The other candidates standing for the position of MHK in Onchan, in Thursday’s General Election, are Rob Callister, Gabriella Corkish, Julie Edge, Rachel Glover and Peter Karran.
