Former chief minister Donald Gelling has denied having any involvement with the Manx Election Trust which bankrolled TV chef Kevin Woodford’s by-election campaign in 2010.
Later this month, two campaign workers and campaign manager Charles Lewin will be sentenced for their parts in a vote-rigging scandal which took place during the campaign.
During the case, Mr Gelling was named as a trustee behind the trust – but he says he turned down the offer.
The Trust was set up by anonymous businessmen to fund election campaigns of chosen candidates.
Mr Gelling says the matter was mentioned to him just once, during a meeting with advocate James Quinn:
