Vast majority of 16-year olds continuing their education
Hundreds of Manx school pupils collected their GCSE results today with the overall pass rate for Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications at 98 per cent.
That means the vast majority scored an IGCSE/ GCSE result between A*-G or the equivalent.
The number of pupils obtaining an A*-C grade is up one per cent on last year at 73 per cent.
Meanwhile, those earning the highest marks between A*-A is down a percentage point to 20 per cent.
The Department of Education says early indications show that around half of 16-year-old school leavers will continue their education in sixth form, with a further 40 per cent taking up a course at University College Isle of Man.
The remaining 10 per cent are set to enter employment.
Education, Sport and Culture Minister Daphne Caine says: "Well done to all students receiving their results today. Take pride in what you've accomplished, no matter what the results are.
"As you decide on your next steps, I wish you the best of luck. My gratitude also goes out to the dedicated school staff and parents for their support."
Drop-in sessions are taking place throughout the summer holidays for students to talk with careers advisers - you can find out more HERE.
