Gawne optimistic about next parking charges vote

Combined vote due in Tynwald next month

The infrastructure minister says he's not too disappointed his public sector parking proposals were rejected, given around two-thirds of members actually voted in favour of them.

Phil Gawne has described the system which has allowed six LegCo members to stop the plans going through as 'quaint'.

He will return to the court next month, when there will a combined vote on the plans, meaning both chambers will vote together, rather than separately.

Meanwhile, David Cretney MLC has taken to Facebook to explain why he voted against the proposals.

He says it's, "an unfair, ill conceived and not properly thought through scheme in relation to civil servants," adding he would be very happy to pay for his parking.
