Perkins keen for other solutions
Garff MHKs Daphne Caine and Martyn Perkins have expressed surprise after commissioners voted to back government's sea wall plans for Laxey.
The national politicians will meet with the local authority and the Department of Infrastructure to discuss the issue today (10 Dec).
It was previously said by the department that plans wouldn't move forward without Garff Commissioners support.
The proposed defences include a harbour wall on Tent Road, and a promenade wall along the seafront with a raised walkway.
Martyn Perkins says he and many other residents do not support the construction of a promenade wall, and would prefer beach management to be investigated first.
He explained his stance to Local Democracy Reporter Ewan Gawne.
