'Our destination may be Murrayfield but our purpose reaches far beyond it'
Fundraisers are embarking on a near 150-mile walk today (16 July) which will see them travel from County Durham to Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium.
They'll be ending the challenge at a Luke Combs gig being held at the venue this weekend.
The team is aiming to raise £4,000 to be divided across four charities including local cause Ed Space IOM.
Setting off from The Bluebird Boutique in Stanhope best friends Rebecca Coates and Susan Yule are amongst those hoping to raise money for good causes.
Former police officer Susan told Manx Radio they're ready for the challenge even if it did seem like a better idea when it was first suggested:
The team are raising money for:
- SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity - which supports serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need, and will directly support the Southwest Durham Social Isolation and Wellbeing Group
- Andy's Man Club which provides free, confidential peer-to-peer support groups for men across the UK
- The Menopause Charity which exists to ensure everyone understands menopause and the impact it can have
- Ed Space IOM which is dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health on the Isle of Man
They have already raised over £3,000 before setting off at 9am.
