Issue affecting main runway now fixed
Full lighting capability has been restored on the main runway at the Isle of Man Airport.
The fault affecting the edge lighting has been successfully repaired.
The Isle of Man Airport says its teams ‘worked continuously to identify and resolve the issue as quickly and safely as possible’.
easyJet cancelled its flight from Ronaldsway to Liverpool last night blaming the ‘failure of the runway lighting system’.
Manx Radio made repeated attempts for comment to the Isle of Man Government - we received no response.
In an update posted to Facebook, just before 4pm today (27 October) the Isle of Man Airport wrote: “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this issue and thank passengers, airlines and airport users for their patience and understanding while work was carried out.
“Passengers are advised to contact their airline directly for the latest information on their flights.”
