Fresh weather warning issued for coastal overtopping

The yellow alert remains in place for four hours this afternoon

Ronaldsway Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for coastal overtopping, effective from 12pm until 4pm today (2 February).

Forecasters warn that strong south to south-westerly winds, combined with high spring tides, are expected to create large waves, potentially leading to sea water and debris spilling onto exposed coastal roads and promenades.

This is expected to occur around high tide, which is anticipated to be at approximately 2pm.

Areas most at risk include Shore Road in Rushen, Castletown Promenade, and the central and northern parts of Douglas Promenade.

To a lesser extent, Laxey and Ramsey Promenades may also be affected.
