Government reaches agreement with BBC
The Manx government and the BBC have reached agreement over the funding of free television licences for over-75s.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle has confirmed that from April the first, Island residents aged 75 and over will once again receive it free of charge.
Talks have been ongoing since 2016 and in Tynwald this week, MLC David Cretney asked for an update, saying progress had taken longer than hoped.
It means eligible pensioners will no longer need to purchase TV licences themselves and then claim the money back from the Manx Treasury.
From April, the BBC will partly fund licences for those aged over 75 in Jersey.
