Free flu jabs being offered to poultry workers

People working with poultry are being offered a free flu vaccine.

It's after a rise in avian flu cases in the UK.

The vaccine is said to reduce the chances of getting both human and avian flu at the same time.

Manx Care says this scenario could create a new and highly infectious flu strain.

The people eligible are:

• Poultry workers or bird handlers
• Those involved in bird culling or cleaning at avian flu outbreak sites
• Workers at registered poultry units and processing units
• People collecting wild bird carcasses where avian flu is suspected

The offer is only valid until 31 March 2025.
