Work capability assessment figures revealed
Government figures show more than 40 per cent of people who underwent work capability assessments were found fit to work over the past year.
This month, Chief Minister Allan Bell claimed a sharp rise in unemployment in December was due to people being moved from other benefits such as Disability Living Allowance onto unemployment benefits.
Now, the Department of Health and Social Care says in 2015, it carried out 712 assessments.
And of those, 314 claimants – around 44 per cent - were assessed as being capable of working.
