Former prison governor calls for jury exemption update

Alison Gomme MBE believes current rules discriminate against elderly and disabled residents

Elderly and disabled people should be allowed to serve as jurors if they're fit and able.

That's according to the former governor of the Isle of Man Prison, Alison Gomme MBE.

She questioning why those over 65 and some with disabilities aren't able to do jury service in the Manx courts.

It's as the Isle of Man Government carries out its annual voters canvass, which is used to compile jurors lists.
