He's labelled historic sites as 'shabby'
A former chief minister of the Isle of Man has called for urgent funding for the Island's heritage sites.
Tony Brown says cuts to Manx National Heritage's funding have caused many historic sites to look 'shabby' and in a 'state of disrepair'.
The budget for Manx National Heritage for the next financial year will be £4.6 million - the current works on the Laxey Wheel cost £750,000.
Mr Brown, in a recent post on social media, said it's past time government took action and 'invested properly' in the Island's heritage and tourism industries.
He told Manx Radio's Lewis Foster that government could invest £1 million now and have heritage sites, such as the Laxey Wheel, open throughout the summer tourist season:
