
A former Chief Constable of the Isle of Man says he understands the pain of Fiona Bone’s family.
The Manchester policewoman, who was schooled on the Island after her family moved to Port St Mary in the late 1990's, was shot and killed yesterday.
In 2003, Robin Oake’s son Stephen, an officer with Special Branch, was stabbed to death as he carried out an anti-terror raid in Manchester.
Mr Oake, who now lives in the UK, says yesterday’s news brought back the memories of his son’s death in 2003.
He says losing a child is a traumatic time for any family – but offered this advice:
