Former airline boss advises government caution

The former head of an Island airline is urging the Manx government to be cautious about setting up its own airline.

That suggestion - made by a Tynwald committee assessing the viability of the Island’s open skies policy - would allow the government to buy landing slots.

Its report proposes investigating whether a franchise based airline could be established and operated by companies on government’s behalf, using leased aircraft.

Former chief executive of Manx Airlines, Terry Liddiard, was among those who gave evidence.
