Foreign air regulators monitored by Manx Registry

The head of civil aviation in the Island says his team does all it can to ensure proper safety checks are carried out on foreign air operators using Isle of Man Airport.

Director of the Manx Aircraft Registry Hartley Elder has been studying the lengthy final report into the Cork air crash, which is only slightly shorter than that carried into the Lockerbie plane disaster.

Six people died when a Manx2 flight from Belfast crashed on its thrid attempt to land at Cork in heavy fog in February 2010.

While Manx2, now defunct sold tickets, the operator was based in Spain so oversight was the responsibilty of the Spanish air authorities.
