Foreign aid will go to those in need

Charity affirms stance after donation

A donation of £62,000 given by the Manx government to support charity projects in Africa will go directly to those in need.

That's according to Christian Aid's Isle of Man Coordinator, Louise Whitelegg.

She says the charity operates schemes through 'local partners' to ensure aid is effective and used correctly.

One project is aimed at increasing the incomes of honey producers in Kenya, and the other at improving conditions for disabled children in Zimbabwe.

Ms Whitelegg says listening to 'those on the ground' enables aid to be used in productive ways:
