Maintenance is key factor
A new footpath strategy is being worked on by the Isle of Man Government.
There is currently work taking place on part of the Heritage Trail on the old railway line between Douglas and Peel.
The scheme between Peel power station and Glenfaba bridge is intended to improve the surface to attract walkers, cyclists, horse riders and people with limited mobility.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer says discussions are taking place to improve the maintenance of the Island's public rights of way.
