Island will celebrate merchant fleet
The Isle of Man will be flying the flag for the Merchant Navy next month.
Merchant Navy Day takes place on Thursday, September 3 – and the Manx Red Ensign will be flown from public buildings to mark it.
The occasion celebrates the role of the merchant fleet – Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly says the Island’s contribution means we can be proud of our maritime heritage.
It’s part of a campaign by the maritime charity the King George V Fund for Sailors which has a branch here on the Isle of Man.
