DHA considering ways to vary special events licensing
The Department of Home Affairs could trial more flexible alcohol licensing for events next year.
Justice and Home Affairs Minister Jane Poole-Wilson has confirmed her department has been consulting on potentially varying special events licensing.
The move would allow those who hold existing licences to have greater ability to host private special events without the need to obtain a separate licence for each instance.
She's confirmed the matter will be considered further in 2026, with a potential pilot also taking place.
