Douglas Council hopes change will encourage more drivers to use site
Douglas Council has agreed to remove the three-hour maximum stay limit on the first two levels of Chester Street car park.
In a bid to encourage more drivers to use the site, spaces on level one and two will be available for 24 hours from April.
Officers at the authority say there's increased demand for long-stay options in the capital, with fewer people wanting to leave their vehicles for a short period.
Those using the four spaces fitted with electric vehicle charging points will be limited to a four-hour stay.
Levels three to six of the car park already offer parking for a full day, with levels six to nine set aside for contract parking throughout the week, then available to the public at the weekend.
Douglas Council runs the car park on behalf of the Department of Infrastructure.
